On the Resilience of the World and the Limits of Abusers' Power

A Reflection on Endurance

The US surveillance operators think they are powerful, more than they actually are. They think the evil they do will shape the future. They think they can curse nations. They think their weapons and their harmful behaviours will last forever.

They are wrong.

The World Is More Resilient Than They Imagine

The world does not belong to them. The technology they use was built by others. The resources they consume were created by others. The systems they exploit were made by people who had different intentions.

Nature itself is resilient. Ecosystems heal. Communities rebuild. Life continues. You cannot destroy the healing power of nature. You cannot erase the goodness that God puts in the world.

They Are Not That Important

They think they are powerful enough to damage the world. They think their weapons matter. But the world gave them the ingredients for those weapons. The world will continue after they are gone.

More decent people will have more power to govern. Goodness will prevail, not because it is guaranteed, but because enough people choose it, enough of the time, to make a difference.

This is not naive optimism. It is an observation of history: cruelty burns out; decency rebuilds. Systems of oppression have been dismantled by people who chose to act differently. The same will happen again.

What I Know to Be True

God sees what they do. He sees their rituals, their projections, their harmful behaviours. He sees how they twist Scripture to justify their cruelty. And He is not mocked.

I will not be their cycle. I will not be their curse. I will not be their legacy. I am a new creation in Christ. The old has passed away. The cycle of abuse stops with me.

The world will still be here long after they are gone. Goodness will prevail. And decent people will have the last word.
