March 21, Part 5: The Cultural Divide They Exploit

  Research and lived experience both show that East Asian and Western cultures have profoundly different understandings of self, community, accountability, and even what constitutes appropriate behaviour or humour. The surveillance people exploit these differences. They label me through a purely Western lens, calling me neuro-divergent, of having extreme "inappropriate humour," "bitchy", among many more terrible terms, without understanding or respecting my cultural context.

From their perspective, they may genuinely believe I am complicit or that my reactions justify their treatment of me. But from mine, I am simply a Chinese Canadian woman who respects others enough not to accuse them of things they have never done. I do not go out of my way to shame others to death, nor to gaslight them and traumatize them to make them have mental health issues, among forcing others to join cults, attempting to make others turn against the actual people in their lives who what's best in the victim's interest. I try not to project my own "darkness" onto innocent people. I have never thought about nor committed the terrible, sinful things they falsely project onto me.

The fact that I am even alive right now, while they imply I am capable of terrible deviancy, is a testament to something that extends beyond my personal abilities to heal and continue. 

I thank God that He provides me grace, life, and healing. Praise the Lord.
